Why
Increasingly existing cloud networks face physical limitations: more data needs, but limited bandwidth and hence increasing costs. To deal with requirements for real-time access to data and large amounts of data being produced, part of the computation shall be moved to the “edge” of the cloud. Edge computing takes data processing closer to where the data is being collected to get near-real-time results and derive value from quickly acting on the data. With local processing power, data analysis and processing can be carried out locally, extracting actionable information that can be transmitted and further processed by other nodes of the networks.
